Sacrewell for students

If you’re interested in a career working with animals, farming or even engineering, Sacrewell can help to give your ambitions a kick-start – so pull on your wellies and muck in during a work experience placement.

Our students get hands on with our animals from day one, mucking out, feeding and learning about livestock management.

You can take a look behind the scene through our Snapchat stories. Take a snap of our ghost or search Sacrewell.

But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what former work experience pupil Aimee Ford, studying animal management at Moulton College, has to say:

“Working at Sacrewell allowed me to work with a variety of small and large animals, which helped me identify the species I want to work with in my future career as a veterinary nurse. During my time here I got to work independently, using my initiative, as well as working closely with the other rangers when carrying out larger tasks such as feeding the orphan lambs, which was lovely! I enjoyed my time at Sacrewell and it educated me a lot on the health and safety side of work, as well as the importance of good animal husbandry and working well with the other rangers and the public. It also taught me a lot about working with animals and how, although it is not always easy, it is highly rewarding. It was a pleasure to work with such a great team!”

Archie Spears, from Arthur Mellows Village College, also had a great time:

“I enjoyed every minute of it. On my first day I felt a little nervous, as I did not know what to expect, but all of the staff there were nice and caring. If I did ask a question or needed showing how to do something, I did not hesitate and feel reluctant to ask. At Sacrewell, I spent my time being a farm ranger where I would get up close with the animals and carry out activities such as feeding every morning and every night; cleaning out the animals’ living areas, such as the horses’ stables and the rabbit hutches; counting and putting away all the animals at night; and helping with primary school visits. I had a great experience at Sacrewell and being there has given me a greater knowledge of what life is actually like in the workplace. I had a fantastic time and enjoyed it so much I would definitely recommend it.”
